Andrew Clemo Interior Designer QLD Australia
A coastal apartment interior in Main Beach featuring kitchen and bathroom creating a contemporary retreat overlooking the Gold Coast skyline.

2601 is a residential interior design and decoration project on Main Beach, Gold Coast, reimagining a coastal apartment with uninterrupted ocean views toward Coolangatta. The renovation blends mid-century cues with contemporary detailing and elevated materiality, offering a calm and refined approach to Gold Coast apartment living.

The original two-bedroom layout prioritised views but limited functionality, with the dining positioned away from natural light. The redesign reconfigured the kitchen to incorporate a dining zone as part of the main living space, improving daily usability while maintaining connection to both the coastline and the surrounding landscape. Timber, travertine, and aged brass introduce warmth and texture, while sculptural detailing enhances the apartment’s clean geometry. Cantilevered chrome and rattan detail the dining chairs, delivering comfort without visual heaviness.

A dividing wall between the lounge and multipurpose room was removed to increase openness and allow light to move freely through the apartment. Curved joinery with travertine and aged brass anchors the living area, referencing the coastline beyond. A modular sofa allows flexible arrangements for family or guests, while the ensuite's curved travertine and marble surfaces pair with brass accents to create a tranquil retreat informed by the tones of sand and sea. A freestanding bath positioned toward the coastline reinforces a sense of calm and connection to the ocean.

The design demonstrates how thoughtful spatial planning can completely transform an outdated floorplan, a common challenge in residential apartment design across the Gold Coast. Considered joinery solutions, refined detailing, and a disciplined material palette elevate the apartment from an off-the-plan starting point to a bespoke coastal retreat in the sky, delivering a quiet, enduring approach to high-end apartment interior design and decoration.
